Flow Dry Technology is granted a United States Patent

BROOKVILLE, OH (June 29, 2007) -- Flow Dry Technology, Inc., a leading manufacturer of gaskets and desiccant products. Flow Dry Technology has recently been awarded a United States Patent for their invention of a “Polypropylene or Polyester Plastic Desiccant Cartridge with Fiberglass Filter and Bead Cage Ends.” The inventors are David Flaugher, Engineering Manager; John Evans, Engineer; and Glenn Perrine, Plant Manager / Vice President.

The invention relates to desiccant containers for use in air or fluid dryers of automotive air conditioning systems. A novel feature of the invention is the ability to provide the full retention of the desiccant charge while still allowing the full flow of the refrigerant fluid and the maximum exposure to the filter medium.

The Flow-Dry^® cartridge has a unique design that protects it from gaining moisture during the customer’s assembly process. It can be exposed up to 10 times longer than conventional bags and loose fill before exceeding moisture specifications. The result is lower outgoing moisture levels, helping customers meet more stringent customer demands.

The Flow-Dry cartridge reduces customer operation to one part and one step. Desiccant filters and tracer wafers are all preassembled and sealed for maximum moisture protection in a climate-controlled environment at our facility. Consolidating this tedious, time-consuming task in advance streamlines the customer’s assembly and leaves the customer with one assembly operation, simply drop the cartridge into the receiver.
